Coast Guard, F/V Ocean One rescue 3 after boat capsizes off Freeport, Texas
The Coast Guard and good Samaritans rescued three adults after their vessel capsized off the coast of Freeport, Texas, Sunday. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders received a call at 5:05 p.m. on VHF-FM channel 16 from the captain of the fishing vessel Ocean One that a pleasure craft had capsized 10 miles off the coast of Freeport. Coast Guard pulled 4 men from shrimp boat taking on water 11 miles south of Jamaica Beach, Texas
Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders received a notification at 1:20 a.m. from Coast Guard Station Galveston watchstanders reporting a 31-foot shrimp boat taking on water with three people aboard. Once on scene, the RB–M crew reported that the shrimp boat, the F/V Captain Alex, was 86 feet in length and had four people aboard. The Coast Guard medevaced a 60-year-old man from a shrimp boat Monday off Freeport, Texas. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders received a notification at 6 a.m. from the crew of the Barbara Elaine, an 81-foot shrimp boat, stating their captain was experiencing symptoms of a heart attack. The Coast Guard medevaced a crew member Sunday from a fishing vessel 40 miles southeast of Cameron, Louisiana. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders received a medevac request at 2:57 a.m. from the 85-foot fishing vessel F/V Jonathan Boy II, stating a 60-year-old crew member was experiencing unconsciousness, clammy, pale skin, heavy breathing, and extreme fatigue. The Coast Guard rescued six people after their vessels became aground in the Intracoastal Waterway north of Rollover Pass in Gilchrist, Texas, Friday. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a report of three fishing vessels aground in the Intracoastal Waterway north of Rollover Pass. The fishing vessels identified in this rescue mission are F/V Golden Eagle, F/V Bossy Page, and F/V Family Tradition The vessel’s occupants, four adults, two infants and three dogs, did not have lifejackets and were concerned about possible rollovers occurring due to weather conditions. >photos, video, click to read< 21:47
Coast Guard medevacs fisherman suffering from seizures, 100 miles off Galveston
A 38-year-old man was medevaced by a Coast Guard helicopter Sunday, after reports of seizures on a fishing vessel about 100 miles southeast of Galveston, Texas. The crew of the fishing vessel Black Jack IV contacted Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders on VHF marine band radio channel 16 at about 6:30 p.m., to report that the man was having seizure like symptoms and needed assistance. The watchstanders launched an Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to medevac the man and an Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew to provide communications and safety support so far offshore. The helicopter crew hoisted the man, had to stop and refuel on a rig in the gulf and then delivered him to Galveston’s Scholes International Airport, where EMS was standing by to take him to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Good Samaritan helps rescue 3 from shrimp boat F/V Angel Lady fire off Galveston
The captain of the shrimp boat Angel Lady called the watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston at 10:04 a.m., reporting that the shrimp boat Capt. Hunter was on fire with three people aboard. The Coast Guard Cutter Manta was diverted and a boatcrew from Station Galveston was launched to assist. The station boatcrew arrived in about 10 minutes, but before they arrived on scene, a good Samaritan aboard a pleasure craft rescued the three crewmembers in distress. continued
