Enterprise III Joins the Fraserburgh Fleet
Enterprise III has been delivered to James Lovie and his partners, and is a Vestværftet design, outfitted and completed at the yard in Hvide Sande on a hull fabricated in Poland. The new trawler headed for Fraserburgh to start its fishing career and to make its first landings. Accommodation on board is for up to eleven and is fitted out to an exceptionally high standard. The deck is laid out with three trawl winches controlled by a Scantrol autotrawl, three pairs of sweepline winches at the head of the long trawl desk with drums large enough to spool ground gear, three net drums over the trawl lanes, pairs of bagging, outhaul and codend winches, and a forward mooring winch. The Porcher Fleet Continues to Grow
Aventurine was built in less than a year by the shipyard in Boulogne for its loyal customer in Côtes-d’Armor. It will be based in Saint-Brieuc, also its port of registry. With an 25 metre overall length and an 8 metre beam, the new trawler has a steel hull, aluminium superstructure and seven winches. Propulsion is provided by a CAT3512C main engine driving a France Helice HPV 804G variable pitch propeller. The new trawler’s skipper, Antoine Porcher, 26 years old and grandson of the company’s owner Jean Porcher, appreciates the innovations that have gone into Aventurine. Future-Proofed Trawler for Hvide Sande
Taking delivery of a new trawler capable of alternating shrimping and targeting flatfish, Hvide Sande fisherman Torben Johansen remains optimisti, but he has few kind words for the current crop of politicians and what he sees as a long list of unfulfilled promises. The back story is that six years ago he ordered a new trawler, Mikkel Louise, to be built at Vestværft. The handover took place in 2020, just as the Covid pandemic hit and although the trawler fished well, the crash in the restaurant sector meant that sales of shrimp and whitefish ground to a standstill. The upshot was that Mikkel Louise was sold to Dutch owners, and Torben Johansen placed an order for a smaller trawler at the same yard. Photos, >click to read< 12:10
Cabo Virgenes Adds to its Fleet
One of the leading companies in the fishery for Argentine red shrimp, Cabo Vírgenes, is about to take delivery of a new trawler built at Astillero Río Paraná Sur, as the company continues to invest in capacity and innovative technology. Astillero Río Paraná Sur, located near Paraná River in the city of Lima, launched the new F/V Atón on 6th May ahead of final fitting out. This is part of the growth of Cabo Vírgenes, which has acquired seven fishing vessels since 2019, including two built for the company by Astillero Contessi. These two represented milestones, as F/V Luca Santino was the first Argentinian fishing vessel with a liquid ice system on board when it was delivered in 2019 and the 25-metreEspartano, delivered in 2020, is the first fishing vessel built in Argentina with an inverted bow. Brittany fishing company La Houle builds for the future
Brittany fishing company La Houle has been facing a case of invest or die, according to managing director Jacques Pichon, and a new addition marks the start of renewed investment in its fleet. The new trawler has raised a few eyebrows in St Guénolé, as its design is a departure from the usual French layout for vessels in this size bracket. La Houle went to Danish designer and shipbuilder Vestværft for its new trawler. Behind this decision is also La Houle’s ownership with Irish shareholders, including Niall Deasy who already runs two Vestværft-built trawlers of his own. photos, >click to read< 12:19
New Trawler Offers Comfort and Towing Power
Skipper Ian Mackay and his crew steamed Loch Inchard III home from Polruan in Cornwall to Kinlochbervie through some windy weather, reporting that the new trawler performed well and was comfortable. Loch Inchard III replaces the Mackay family’s Loch Inchard II, a wooden-hulled trawler that was built for them in 1984, making the switch to a new steel trawler a real leap in terms of comfort and efficiency. ‘It’s the first of its type, and while Loch Inchard III is bigger than the trawler it replaces, it’s not the biggest in its class. New Trawler Delivered From Karstensens Shipyard
In March of 2019 a contract was signed between Mats Johansson, Vingaskär Fiskeri AB and Karstensens Shipyard A/S for the construction of a new 34.00 m Trawler. The finished ship was taken over by the Shipping Company on 15 June 2021 after some delay, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The new vessel is a state-of-the-art combi trawler, designed for fishing for both fish for human consumption and shrimp, with everything within the latest of machinery, equipment and equipment. Skipper celebrating clean bill of health with trawler Robyn
Castletownbere fisherman Daniel Healy is not only celebrating the launch of his new trawler, but also the 11th anniversary of his kidney transplant. Skipper and owner Daniel purchased the 20m Robyn RJ late last year, and, following some modifications, is now fishing with his crew of four, landing their catch into Castletownbere where he lives with his wife Maureen and their three children. >click to read< 21:22
