The New England groundfish debacle (Part III): who or what is at fault? Nils E. Stolpe/FishNet
NILS STOLPE: The New England groundfish debacle (Part IV): Is cutting back harvest really the answer?
While it’s a fact that’s hardly ever acknowledged, the assumption in fisheries management is that if the population of a stock of fish isn’t at some arbitrary level, it’s because of too much fishing. Hence the term “overfished.” Hence the mandated knee jerk reaction of the fisheries managers to not enough fish; cut back on fishing. What of other factors? They don’t count. It’s all about fishing, because fishing is all that the managers can control; it’s their Maslow’s Hammer. When it comes to the oceans it seems as if it’s about all that the industry connected mega-foundations that support the anti-fishing ENGOs with hundreds of millions of dollars a year in “donations” are interested in controlling. Oh good. Out of spite alone, this makes me want to eat 2 lobsters instead of one. Pass the cow-made buttah, please. :D
This is all about PETA creating more exposure of themselves with photo ops that they are sure to attract. It also demonstrates how much money that they have, that they can throw it away with such an obvious ploy. More money than brains, that they would rather use it to generate publicity, than to use some of it promoting sane conservation, or helping fishing families already in dire straits.
Jim Kendall NBSC
Why even bother to give these fools the time of day? By putting this up on the web they win. All they seek is publicity for their idiotic freak show.
A word to PETA What gives you the right to tell others how to conduct their lives?…Kiss my fur wearing meat eating ASS!!!
