A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka aircrew medically evacuated a 24-year-old crewmember from a Canadian vessel located northwest of Graham Island in British Columbia on Friday. The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew arrived on scene at 7:58 p.m. and safely hoisted and transported the patient to shore in Masset, a village in British Columbia, where he was then transferred to awaiting EMS. >click to read< 17:12
Video: Coast Guard rescues two fishermen from sinking vessel near Sitka
The Coast Guard rescued two fishermen from their sinking vessel, Monday in Islet Passage, near Sitka, Alaska. A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew hoisted the two fishermen at approximately 9 p.m. from the 40-foot fishing vessel, F/V Glory, approximately nine miles south of Sitka. The aircrew lowered a rescue swimmer to assess the vessel that was taking on water. The fishermen were unable to secure the source of the flooding and the rescue swimmer advised the fisherman to abandon ship. Video, >click to read< 18:39

The Jayhawk crew rendezvoused with the Tuxedni in Tebenkof Bay, 67 miles southeast of Sitka, hoisted the woman aboard and flew her to Sitka where she was transferred to local emergency medical service personnel for evaluation and treatment. more@uscgnews 03:24

Coast Guard 17th District Command Center watchstanders received a request for the medevac from the master of the Jerilyn Monday morning stating the fisherman had been injured while using a winch aboard the vessel. The watchstanders consulted the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac and then directed the launch of the Jayhawk crew. @uscgnews
