Video Update: Coast Guard rescues crew of sinking fishing vessel
The Coast Guard rescued two people from a sinking commercial fishing vessel Thursday approximately five miles from Engelhard, North Carolina, in the Pamlico Sound. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina received notification at approximately 2 a.m. from the 35-foot fishing vessel, Heathers Breeze, stating they were taking on water. A Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet 47-foot Motor Lifeboat responded and transferred a crew member to the vessel to assist. A Coast Guard aircrew hoisted four fishermen from a disabled fishing vessel off the coast of Duck, N.C., Tuesday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina received a call at approximately 7:30 a.m. from the captain of the fishing vessel Bald Eagle II stating that his vessel was disabled and drifting towards shore. photos, >click to read< 15:48
Coast Guard medevacs fisherman Saturday near Hatteras Inlet
The Coast Guard medevaced an injured man Saturday from a fishing boat near Hatteras Inlet. received a request from the 78-foot fishing boat Daniel Joseph at 10:27 a.m. Saturday to transport a 58-year-old fisherman to shore for medical treatment after he sustained injuries to his fingers while shrimping.
