Joe’s Lobster Mart – Fish dealer fights for livelihood

The decision is likely to come within days and was prompted by owner Joseph Vaudo’s guilty plea in March that he received stolen oysters at his retail and wholesale fish market on the Cape Cod Canal in Sandwich. On Oct. 26, 2013, police had his market under surveillance during a transaction with Michael Bryant, who police suspected of stealing oysters from  Bryant has since pleaded guilty to a string of oyster thefts. Joe’s Lobster Mart owner fights state over seafood license

The health department action came after Vaudo, 63, pleaded guilty in March to receiving stolen property, willfully misleading police during an investigation and failure or refusal to file required statistical reports of wholesale and retail dealers. He was ordered to pay $6,250 in fines and court costs. The charges against Vaudo stemmed from an investigation into a string of thefts from oyster beds last summer in Barnstable and Dennis. Massachusetts Department of Public Health aims to shut down Joe’s Lobster Mart
