VIDEO RELEASE: Coast Guard rescues 2 after vessel sinks 34 miles offshore Charleston

A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah helicopter crew rescued two men, Tuesday, after their 30-foot fishing vessel capsized 34 miles offshore of Charleston. Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center watchstanders received a mayday call at 10:30 p.m., via VHF-FM channel 16 from a crew member aboard the fishing vessel stating their vessel was sinking. Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Charleston boat crew and an Air Station Savannah helicopter crew to assist.  Utilizing direction finding technology to triangulate the last known position, watchstanders were able to identify the vessel’s approximate location. Boaties rescued off Fraser Island

The Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has assisted in a mission to help four trawler crew members, who set off an emergency beacon, after their boat was damaged off K’gari (Fraser Island) overnight. The rescue crew was tasked by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) to locate the 15 metre vessel, around 2.45am Monday morning, after its EPIRB (Emergency Positioning Indicating Radio) was activated. Air Station Kodiak helicopter crew medevacs 2 men from 2 fishing vessels near Cold Bay, Alaska

A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew forward deployed to Cold Bay medevaced two men Monday afternoon from the fishing vessels Ocean Peace and Northern Patriot 135 miles north of Cold Bay. The Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted a 21-year-old man aboard the Ocean Peace at approximately 5 p.m. and hoisted a 37-year-old man from the Northern Patriot at around 6:30 p.m. Both men were safely transported to Cold Bay Airport where they were transferred to commercial medical services. >click here to read< 22:54

Coast Guard rescue boat, helicopter crew rescue fisherman off Monomoy Island, Mass.

coast guardCoast Guard Station Chatham and Air Station Cape Cod crews teamed up to rescue a fisherman Tuesday four miles east of Monomoy Island. A crewmember aboard the fishing boat Godzilla III sent a radio hail for help to watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England. The crewmember reported a man aboard was experiencing chest pain and in need of immediate medical attention.  A 42-foot response boat crew from Coast Guard Station Chatham, who were already underway in Lewis Bay for a law enforcement patrol, immediately diverted to meet up with Godzilla III.  An MH-60 helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod was also diverted from their flight to help. Once on scene, the response boat crew took the man aboard the Coast Guard boat to make for a safer hoisting platform for medevac by helicopter.  The aircrew hoisted the man into the helicopter and took him to Barnstable Municipal Airport, where his care was transferred to local emergency medical service personnel.
