Falklands Trawler Launched In Marín
The Nodosa Shipyard at Marín in the Galician region of Spain has floated off one of the three large factory vessels it has under construction. The 85-metre F/V Argos Berbés is being built for the Orion Fishing Company, a joint venture between Vigo-based Armadora Pereira and the Argos Group in the Falklands. C Toms delivers Our David George
A new twin-rig trawler has been delivered by the C. Toms & Son yard to fishing company North Devon Trawlers, a joint venture between fisherman Scott Wharton and Barnstaple processor Coombe Fisheries. Our David George is designed to alternate twin-rig trawling and scalloping, with capacity to switch over in only a few hours, reports Phil Lockley. The alloy shelter deck can be unbolted and removed within two hours, providing access to the goose-neck to take the derricks. Proposed wind farms off of New London worry local fishermen
Last week, Ørsted and Eversource announced a joint venture and has submitted a bid to build Connecticut’s first offshore wind farm, in response to the state’s request for proposals for offshore wind energy generation. Victoria Nuland speaks about her experience of living with 80 Russian fishermen on one boat
American diplomat Victoria Nuland said that she could understand Russian culture better after she had worked with Russian fishermen for six months. The reason for the story was a video posted by Aleksei Navalny, in which Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Prikhodkov said to businessman Oleg Deripaska that he considered Victoria Nuland a friend, even though she had an aversion to Russia for living with Russian seamen on a fishing boat for six years in her 20s.
