Coast Guard medevacs ailing crewmember north of Cold Bay, Alaska

coast guardA Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew, deployed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Midgett, medevaced an ailing crewmember aboard the fishing vessel Seafreeze Alaska approximately 195 miles north of Cold Bay, Alaska, Thursday. The helicopter crew hoisted the 21-year-old man, who reportedly lost consciousness for 45 minutes, and transferred him to awaiting Guardian Flight emergency medical personnel in Cold Bay. Coast Guard 17th District watchstanders were notified at approximately 7:45 a.m. by personnel at Health Force Partners of a medical situation aboard the Seafreeze Alaska. Watchstanders consulted the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac. Crewmembers from Midgett rendezvoused with the vessel north of Cold Bay and launched the rescue helicopter crew. While the helicopter was airborne, Midgett remained on scene to act as a support platform for the rescue helicopter. Once the hoist was complete, the helicopter refueled aboard the cutter before proceeding to Cold Bay. Link 20:16

486x274_q75 scalloper good news 2 hoistThe Coast Guard medevaced a man Saturday from a fishing boat about 35 miles east of Chincoteague. Watchstanders at the Sector Hampton Roads Command Center in Portsmouth received notification at approximately 10:45 a.m. a 58-year-old crewman aboard the commercial fishing boat Good News II out of Hampton was having trouble breathing and requested assistance.  An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, diverted from another mission at about 10:50 a.m. The aircrew arrived on scene at about 11:25 a.m., hoisted the man and transported him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk at about 12:20 p.m. in stable condition. Coast Guard medevacs Fisherman off Gloucester coast

coast guardA Coast Guard crew medevaced a 47-year-old fisherman Wednesday off the coast of Gloucester. Watchstanders at Sector Boston’s command center received the report at approximately 11:40 a.m. from a crew member aboard the commercial fishing vessel, First Impression II, homeported in Sorrento, Maine, that another crew member was suffering from chest pains. A 29-foot response boat from Station Gloucester arrived on scene first at 11:59 a.m.  A crew followed quickly behind with Gloucester Fire Department emergency medical technicians aboard and arrived on scene at 12:03 p.m. The EMTs boarded the First Impression II to give the patient medical attention, and the Coast Guard escorted the vessel back to Station Gloucester. First Impression II moored at 12:20 p.m., and emergency medical services personnel transported the man to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Link  16:16

Coast Guard medevacs Fisherman off the coast of Marquesas Keys, Florida

A fisherman was medically evacuated by a Coast Guard search-and-rescue crew north of Marquesas Keys, Florida, Thursday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West, Fla., received notification from the crew aboard the Capt GC II of a 49-year-old male experiencing shortness of breath 13 nautical miles north of Marquesas Keys. After consulting with the duty flight surgeon, a Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 helicopter crew launched to transport him to urgent medical care. The helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisted the man and transported him to Key West International Airport where emergency medical services awaited. Watch the video here 13:43

Video: Coast Guard medevacs injured fisherman 70 miles off Barnegat Light, NJ

The Coast Guard medevaced a 49-year-old man Wednesday 70 miles east of Barnegat Light, New Jersey. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia received notification at approximately 9:15 a.m. from the crew of the 77-foot fishing vessel Determination of a crewmember who suffered injuries to his right hand. Video – Coast Guard medevacs fisherman 75 miles off Cape May, NJ

The Coast Guard medevaced a fisherman 75 miles southeast of Cape May, New Jersey, Thursday. The 43-year-old man was fishing with three other people aboard the 80-foot fishing boat Starbrite when he started experiencing difficulty breathing and numbness of his extremities. A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, New Jersey, arrived on scene at approximately 11 a.m. The helicopter crew hoisted the man and transferred him to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Maryland. Coast Guard medevacs Fisherman off boat near Oregon Inlet, NC

uscg logoThe Coast Guard medevaced a 22-year-old man Tuesday aboard a fishing vessel near Oregon Inlet.  Sector North Carolina watchstanders received a call at 5:30 a.m. that a crew member aboard the 43-foot fishing vessel Sea Dog had fallen and sustained an injury to his ear. A Coast Guard 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew launched from Station Oregon Inlet at 5:48 a.m. and arrived on scene at 6:10 a.m. Read the post here 10:26

The Dolphin crew medevaced a 20-year-old man who was suffering from respiratory issues aboard a fishing boat about 50 miles offshore from Ocean City, Md. The crew of the F/V Apollo  contacted Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders in Philadelphia at 3:36 p.m. to report the man was in need of immediate medical assistance.
