Varick Frissell: the New England Filmmaker Who Died in the Biggest Hollywood Disaster Ever
In 1930, Varick Frissell traveled north to Canada to make what would turn out to be the deadliest movie ever. Twenty-six people would die in the filming, including Varick Frissell himself. The film was a drama set aboard a fishing ship in White Bay in Newfoundland. It dealt with the friendship and rivalry of two men, one of whom is convinced he is a jinx.
