Coast Guard finds no pollution after fishing boat runs aground on Cape Cod

The United States Coast Guard determined there is no pollution after a fishing boat ran aground at Ballston Beach in Cape Cod on Friday. Authorities say they were notified at around 2:30 a.m. that the Miss Megan vessel hat ran aground. No injuries were reported. Beached fishing trawler Remus refloated, making way to Nelson

The New Zealand-flagged trawler Remus ran aground at Big Bay, 40km north of Milford Sound, about 10am on Thursday. Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand was alerted but no distress call was made, and no search and rescue action was taken. There were no reports of injuries to the four crew members on board. The first attempt at refloating it yesterday was unsuccessful. But around 1am on Monday, they managed to get the heavy, steel constructed trawler refloated. >click to read < 07:14

F/V Sea Angels: Grounded fishing vessel near Browns Inlet, refloated and towed off the beach

The Coast Guard received a report of the fishing vessel Sea Angels being towed off the beach by the fishing vessel Lady Deborah during high tide Wednesday evening. The vessel was towed to Jarrett Bay Boatworks in Beaufort, North Carolina, where it has been dry docked for inspection and repairs. >click to read< 15:57

Sunken fishing tender is a loss

A 71-foot fishing tender that sank at Seward’s T-Dock in early December has been refloated and was being turned over to a Seward boat repair firm for final disposal. Officials with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation said Dec. 21 that the F/V Nordic Viking had been lifted ad dewatered by Global Diving and Salvage, Inc. on Dec. 20 with Alaska Chadux Corp., an oil spill response organization, deploying containment boom, and that the vessel was heading to Raibow Fiberglass and Boat Repair for disposal. >click to read<17:47

Beached crab boat refloated

Many hands and some well-timed weather helped a team of islanders to right and relaunch a crab-fishing boat that ran aground on Rose Spit. “We just got really lucky,” said Stan Hansen, who was hired along with Port Clements-based D&E Towing to try and clear the Carmanah Light off North Beach. Several volunteers also joined in, unloading dozens of crab pots to lighten the 14-metre steel boat. “By the time we went to take it off, it was perfect,” Hansen said. “The old girl almost jumped off the beach like she didn’t want to be there.” click here to read the story 08:32
