Dramatic moment US Coast Guard rescues fishermen from struggling boat off Cape Cod after it lost its steering capabilities during fierce East Coast storm
The US Coast Guard rescued a 65-foot lobster boat and its crew after it lost all steering and was adrift in the waters southwest of Nantucket. Crews from Station Brant Point in Nantucket and Air Station Cape Cod responded to a call by the vessel named Two Dukes around 9.30 am earlier this week. Four crew members and a dog were rescued. The captain was found with facial injuries after a window got blown out in the heavy seas and left him with lacerations. The captain and first mate remained onboard to assist in towing Two Dukes. I couldn’t be more proud of this crew. First heavy weather SAR case of the winter season. Fifteen to 20-foot seas, shoals all over. Four fishermen rescued off New Brunswick
The Summerside-based Canadian Coast Guard Vessel, Cap Nord, was dispatched Tuesday evening after a New Brunswick fishing vessel reported it was taking on water. Sub. Lt. Blair Gilmore with the Canadian Coast Guard’s Joint Recue Coordination Centre, said all four persons onboard the Julie and Jolene were able to get safely onboard a “vessel of opportunity,” the fishing vessel Black Pearl that was in the area at the time. No one was injured and the four crewmembers were taken into port at Richibucto. The distress call from the Julie and Jolene was received around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The vessel subsequently sank. Coast Guard rescues two Fishermen Tuesday after boat overturns near Carolina Beach
The Coast Guard rescued two men Tuesday after their boat overturned near Carolina Beach. Sector North Carolina watchstanders received a report at 11:06 p.m. Monday stating two men, ages 25 and 35, were aboard the 41-foot fishing boat Allicat, when the boat ran aground in Snow’s Cut. The men remained aboard and waited for high tide to re-float the boat, but at 1:16 a.m. Tuesday, watchstanders received notice the vessel overturned and one man was in the water. Coast Guard rescues fishermen in consecutive cases in Matagorda Bay, Texas
Coast Guard boat and air crews rescued a 64-year-old man after his oyster boat went aground and began taking on water in Matagorda Bay early this morning and rescued another man after his oyster boat went aground in the same area this afternoon. At approximately 5:30 a.m., the son of the master of the oyster vessel Two Sisters contacted Station Port Aransas by phone stating his father had run aground and his boat was rapidly taking on water.
