As a former Coastguardsman, commercial fisherman, and tug captain I give thanks that the men and women of the United States Coast Guard are always standing by to help those in peril. This is the highest form of sacrifice possible when a person such as Petty Officer Obendorf gives his life so that others may live. My thoughts and prayers go to his family and shipmates.
