There’s a chance that the American crabmeat making your mouth water is American only by virtue of being repackaged in a plant in the United States. The problem that struggling Chesapeake Bay watermen and seafood processors are finding these days is that imported crabmeat is often labeled “product of the United States” when it is repackaged at an American facility.
