Creating a Safe Harbor for a Village Heritage
MORRO BAY, Calif. — Anyone seeking to learn about the fishing heritage of this port city, named for the huge rock that dominates its harbor, need only amble over to the “Liar’s Bench,” a sitting area along the Embarcadero for fishermen prone to telling tall tales.,,their brethren in Cape Cod? The Liar’s bench. huh! The radical agenda driven enviro groups were welcomed with open arms on Cape Cod, and the infamous Cape Cod Hookers, whom have pretty much covered up the toxic waste site it is with a Hollywood Makeover. The toxicity is still present.
This article from the NY Times, who habitually print a lot of un truth is typical pro ENGO driven dogma.
They make it sound so good!
From the article:The Morro Bay fund’s fishing rights were originally owned by the Nature Conservancy, which nine years ago started buying up the permits and boats of beleaguered fishermen wanting out of the business. “We realized we had to work with fishermen to achieve conservation,” said Michael Bell, the director of the conservancy’s California Coastal and Marine Program. “That was a big experiment for us.”
“Together, the conservancy, fishermen and scientists began exploring ways to harvest groundfish sustainably, using gear such as hook and line and traps to replace bottom trawling, a practice that devastates the marine environment and indiscriminately kills large numbers of nontargeted species, known as bycatch. Half the income from the new Morro Bay Community Quota Fund will be used for further research into sustainable fishing practices.”
What I realize is, any fisherman that accepts the notion that they have to work with the radical enviro groups of EDF, Nature Con, and the rest, will sell out their brethren. They’ve done it!
They are the ones that have caused the continued consolidation of fishing fleets through ownership of fishing rights, sold to the highest bidder, and removed the ability of real fishermen that survived because they were good, innovative fishermen, to the now commodity trader type.
I suggest this article from Dick Grachek.

I really want to thank & congratulate Dick for writing this article, & BH for posting it. It depicts a clear & accurate understanding of the many sins that have taken place in the name of “Conservation”. It brings to mind the many sins & horrors that have been committed, throughout history over many centuries, in the guise of religion & patriotism. Only the bright light of day will clearly expose the rot that sits beneath lipstick & makeup that really hides the face of the gussied-up pig.
