N.S. Lobster Crawl kicks off with Lucy the Lobster’s Groundhog Day prediction

Lucy the Lobster won’t be the only Lob-Star at her annual Groundhog Day prediction in North East Point by the Cape Sable Island Causeway in the Municipality of Barrington this year. Bridgewater resident Heather Jeffers has been chosen as this year’s Lob-Star for the festival, getting VIP status for many of the signature events the lobster crawl is becoming known for. “My friends and I joked that I’ve been in training for this dream job all my life!” This is the fifth annual Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl, which was started by the SSTC in 2018 as a way to boost winter tourism and to celebrate the region’s economic backbone and heritage, along with the six-month Lobster Fishing Area (LFA) 33 and 34 commercial lobster fishery. Lucy The Lobster To Make Virtual Groundhog Day Prediction

It won’t be a groundhog determining if there are six more weeks of winter in southern Nova Scotia. Lucy the Lobster will be crawling out of the Atlantic on February second to make a virtual prediction as part of the Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl festival. Shubenacadie Sam predicts an early spring. And Lucy the Lobster agrees

Shubenacadie Sam had a spring in his step as he scurried out of his temporary enclosure to greet more than 100 anxious onlookers Friday. “And he didn’t see his shadow,” said a smiling youngster who watched the famous prognosti-critter from an elevated perch.,, On the South Shore, Lucy the Lobster made her debut as a prognosticator and sided with Sam.
