Greg DiDomenico: Fisheries law deserves reauthorization
The Garden State Seafood Association, a statewide organization promoting the interests of the commercial fishing industry and seafood consumers in New Jersey, last week joined with 150 businesses, organizations and individuals on the East, West and Gulf coasts to express support for the U.S. House of Representatives Natural Resources Committee’s work on reauthorizing the act that regulates U.S. fisheries. RI One Step Closer to Seat on Mid-Atlantic Fishery Council
Senator Reed wrote the Rhode Island Fishermen’s Fairness Act (S. 713) to add Rhode Island to the list of seven states with voting representation on the MAFMC, a regional management board that establishes fishery management rules for stocks primarily caught in federal waters adjacent to the mid-Atlantic coast., included in the latest version of the Senate Commerce Committee’s draft Magnuson-Stevens Act .
