Fishing boat sinks after catching fire off the Hartlepool coast

Both Hartlepool RNLI lifeboats were paged at 10.26 am on Monday, August 9, following a request by Humber Coastguard after reports that flares had been fired from a boat off Hartlepool. Both Hartlepool RNLI boats launched at 10.35 am and were alongside the stricken vessel within a few minutes. On arrival at the scene, a lifeboat crew member from the inshore lifeboat was placed aboard the second fishing boat that had taken the skipper to provide casualty care although none was required. photos, >click to read< 10:11

Devon lifeboats race to French trawler fire

Two South Devon lifeboats took part in a five-hour mission far out in the English Channel after a French trawler caught fire. Firefighters were winched down to the deck of the stricken trawler during the operation. Torbay and Salcombe both launched their RNLI lifeboats to go to the aid of the French fishermen. A spokesman for Torbay RNLI said the trawler had suffered an engine room fire 36 miles south east of Berry Head on Sunday afternoon. A Sad Update: Fishermen found clinging to capsized boat after major search and rescue operation

Fishermen have been found clinging to the hull of an upturned boat after a major search and rescue operation was launched last night. Three lifeboats and a rescue helicopter were launched on Tuesday evening in a search for an overdue commercial fishing vessel. The RNLI lifeboats from Plymouth, Salcombe and Looe were joined by the coastguard rescue helicopter from Newquay in the search which began at about 10pm.,,, Fishing boat FV Solstice was reported missing having sailed from Plymouth. click here to read the story 11:46

Man dies as fishing boat capsizes off Devon coast – A fisherman who went missing after his boat capsized off the Devon coast has died, investigators have confirmed. Crab fishermen off Orkney taken to safety in Scrabster

Eight crab fishermen have been escorted to safety by lifeboats after their boat rapidly started filling with water. Coastguard and lifeboat personnel responded to the incident involving the vessel Kingfisher north-west of Orkney. Its problems started at about 17:30 on Sunday when water started leaking from a burst pipe. They were accompanied to Scrabster on the Scottish mainland by RNLI lifeboats from Stromness and Thurso. link 09:12

Two fishermen rescued after their boat sinks off Northumberland coast

Two fishermen were rescued after their boat sank off the Northumberland coast. The alarm was raised by the crew of another fishing boat who spotted a man clinging to a lobster pot marker just before 9am on Wednesday. They radioed for help after pulling him on board their vessel, the Boy Liam. Amble RNLI all-weather and inshore lifeboats were launched to search for the second fisherman, and Newbiggin and Seahouses RNLI lifeboats were later asked to join the search. Read the rest here 10:10
