Brexit: EU preparing to row back on rights to fish in British waters
Brussels is preparing to back down over a Brexit fishing deal and acknowledge for the first time that European fleets do not have an automatic right to fish in British waters. In a concession to help to unlock negotiations, Michel Barnier is understood to accept that the UK will have to be treated as an independent coastal state and have annual negotiations with the bloc over fishing quotas from next year. The EU’s chief negotiator told European diplomats that the compromise would have to wait until other parts of the deal were closer to being finalised. >click to read< 22:19

Two days ago, the local netter Stelissa skippered by Ryan Davey decided to take a chance and head out through the gaps and commit him, his crew and the boat to a full hake trip south of Ireland with a full twenty hour trip ahead of them. They steamed west-north-west into the setting sun over the Scillys before arriving on the fishing grounds yesterday to shoot their nets in these challenging times. Skipper Alan and the Ajax are back in town!
Arriving at 630am the Ajax took up a berth near the ice works, having steamed down from Macduff’s shipyard in Scotland following a major refit including new main and genset engines.and the replacement of the foremast with a hydraulic landing/gear crane,,, There are a bunch of great photo’s, and a very cool video showing us around the vessel!
