Draft North Atlantic Right Whale and Offshore Wind Strategy Announced

As the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has ramped up offshore wind development to meet the Biden-Harris administration’s goal of generating 30 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030, the question of how the expansion of offshore wind energy could affect the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale (NARW) has come under close review. To help address this question and support the recovery of endangered NARW and the responsible development of offshore wind energy, BOEM and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries) developed a joint Draft North Atlantic Right Whale and Offshore Wind Strategy (the Draft Strategy). >click to read< 11:29

One Response to Draft North Atlantic Right Whale and Offshore Wind Strategy Announced

  1. muddog says:

SAVING THE PLANET OR TO CONTROL IT. There is a war on food producers (fishermen), fuel & freedom; the purpose is to control you. Covid Lockdowns was a preview to Climate Lockdowns. The truth shall set you free. Facts over fear. Truth is our weapon. Lies, money, ESA (endangered species act), Global Warming and fake news is theirs.

Stop the sWINDle. Offshore Floating Windmills are an experiment. Standard windmills are ecologically and environmentally destructive. The floating ones use way more ocean floor. Once installed, no turning back. These projects are being forced upon us by corrupt politicians. Follow the $$$$.

The dangers to Right whales are expected in OSW (offshorewind). Sonar used in construction can cause irreparable damage to whale sensitive hearing and bearings. The added ship strikes from increased traffic is the number one threat to Right whales. We do not know the consequences to the Gulf of Maine’s precious ecosystem. What effect does the whirling sound do when amplified underwater? What effect on the (sea) food chain? The elephant (right whale) in the room is why the ESA is not stopping OSW, but will paralyze fishermen?

Green energy has been proven to be expensive, intermittent and unnecessary. The energy needed to build these monstrosities that may last a few decades is underplayed. Where do outdated windmills end up? Davy Jones’ locker? The cost benefit equation is nil. Taxpayers subsidizes these boondoggles.

MAINE FISHER FOLK ARE NOT FIGHTING THE CONSERVATIONISTS, THEY ARE THE CONSERVATIONISTS.
Fishermen & women are the eyes, ears, heart and soul of the oceans. True stewards of the sea. Lobster fishing is the gold standard on sustainable fishing. Elinor Ostrom won the Economic Nobel Prize using Maine lobstering as her template.

LAWS ARE BEING CHERRY PICKED, MISCONSTRUED OR IGNORED. BEST SCIENCE IS BEING REPLACED BY BOUGHT SCIENCE.
NMFS/NOAA regulations on fishing are draconian, arbitrary and capricious. Sometimes even ridiculous. Lobstermen and woman have complied anyway. The goalposts keep moving. Now the fishcrats along with the ecofrauds and courts want an unrealistic 98% reduction.

Maine lobstering have had ZERO Right whale deaths and ZERO entanglements in 18 years. Shouldn’t the fish law’s rule by fact not theory (worst case scenario theory)? Shouldn’t best science be used instead of “science” gleaned from the agenda-driven eco (fraud)groups funded by multinational corporations?

The Southern Right whale is not endangered. Why are the species divided into a subset? Could it be an excuse to get rid of fishermen?

We used to say NMFS (National Marine Fisheries) Makes No Mother F#$&*@% Sense, but it does if you realize the agenda. Agenda 2020, Agenda 2030, LOST (Law of the Sea Treaty), Ocean Zoning & the Great Reset. MPA’s (Marine Protected Areas) Aquaculture, Ocean Mining for minerals & gravel, OSW, drilling for oil are pieces of the puzzle. ALL HANDS-ON DECK. EDUCATE THE PEOPLE & THE POLITICIANS. MAINE WATERS NOT 4 SALE. THE STATE, OUR OCEAN, OUR COUNTRY & THE WORLD DEPENDS ON US.
