50th Bodega Bay Fish Fest to celebrate coastal fishing traditions despite salmon season closure
A two-day celebration of Bodega Bay’s fishing traditions will go on as usual this weekend, honoring the hardships and labor of the local commercial fleet, despite the setbacks of a curtailed crab season and a salmon fishery that has been shut down this year. Long scheduled to mark the start of the keystone king salmon season, the annual Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival, now in its 50th year, will fill the air with live music and the shouts and laughter of thousands of people gathered harbor-side for fun and games. Festival that supports the Bodega Bay fishing fleet missing community
Since 1973 the Bodega Bay community has hosted an annual Fisherman’s Festival,, The blessing of the Fishing Fleet is the highlight of the Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival. These solemn annual blessings had their start more than 50 years ago when the event was part of the “Discovery Days Celebration”,,, It is with much regret that we cancel the 2021 edition of the Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival (as well as our 2020 festival). 45th Annual blessing of the Bodega Bay fishing fleet marks a shorter and uncertain salmon season

Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival celebrates, blesses a busy fleet
More than 20 vessels on Sunday were blessed by local clergy as part of the Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival, continuing a more than 50-year tradition in support of a key economic engine in this small coastal town.
