New Design Scalloper offers Economic Operation
Although the original brief had been for a sister vessel to Eternal Light, which has been fishing successfully since its delivery in 2019 to Fraserburgh company Whitelink Seafoods, the choice went to a new design scalloper that would provide more deck and gear space, better crew conditions and greater economy. The new design, developed with Macduff Ship Design to incorporate a more efficient hull form and a new stern gear package designed to improve fuel efficiency. The 19.98-metre Eternal Promise has a beam of 7.40 metres and a fishroom capable of holding 33 tonnes of bagged scallops. TecnoPesca Argentina’s New Freezer Trawler Prototype
TecnoPesca Argentina (TPA) has been developing of a new design for a freezer trawler to replace a 50-year-old boat operating in the Argentine red shrimp fishery in Patagonia. The new trawler, which is still waiting for its substitute license, has to keep the same fishing capacity of the previous vessel. ‘That’s our biggest challenge. Rethinking the Ocean Factory Trawler
An entirely new design for the ocean factory trawler segment has been released by KNUD E. HANSENs Faroe Islands design team. From stem to stern this design redefines the classic trawler layout which has remained more or less unchanged for decades. The designers state: “The aim of this design is to set new standards for the next generation of ocean factory trawlers, seeking innovation in all solutions and adaption of new technologies to the long proven concept of stern trawlers”. >click to read<21:21
