Famous 16-Foot Great White Shark Gone Missing

Mary Lee, the 16-foot Great White Shark that has had Twitter in a frenzy the past few weeks, has gone missing – electronically speaking. According to Ocearch, a conservation group set out to track and collect date from tiger and great white sharks, said her transmitter hasn’t had a “ping” since June 17, and no one has seen or heard from her since. Searchers find sunken vessel off Canterbury coast as three crew feared dead

Searchers believe they have found a fishing trawler that sunk off the Canterbury coast with three men on board. All are presumed drowned. Underwater scanning equipment pinpointed the missing FV Jubilee a short distance from where the crew made a distress call early Sunday, Ocean Fisheries boss Andrew Stark said at 8.15pm. It was the first sign of the 16-metre vessel after its three-man crew got into trouble and told authorities at 4.30am they intended to get into a life raft. Read the rest here 10:58

Coast Guard searching for missing father and son in Brazos River

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a father and son who went missing Tuesday morning. Officials said Brandon Orr and Phillip Orr were last seen fishing in a commercial crab boat in the Brazos River south of Freeport. “We know that the two individuals put in the boat in the San Bernard and were moving crab traps into the Brazos River,” Capt. Commercial fishing captain who pleaded guilty to federal poaching charges is missing

A commercial-fishing boat found Wednesday without its 67-year-old operator triggered a search by U.S. Coast Guard aircraft and boats off Key West. The search for Dennis Dallmeyer continued late Wednesday. Dallmeyer was being prosecuted in federal court for his role in a lobster-poaching operation.
